new 10x12 barn shed coop have a window and 2 eave vents

Definitely more, if you want to stock at 'usual' chicken densities, like 4 sq ft per chicken, and have good air quality.

Also btw you'll want to insulate the underside of the roof if it's metal, or you will get condensation problems.

Have fun,

Pat

Perhaps a fan in one of the ventilation vents would help... (that's what I did cuz I only have two windows and two vents) guess it depends upon the # of chickens you put in there.

Post a pic... we love those.

Congratulations!!

yeah, I know people say that. However, only industrial or ag type fans are designed for high-dust conditions, which a coop PROFOUNDLY is. Household or bathroom fans tend to pack it in and/or become fire hazards in fairly short order, and IMHO are a really bad idea for a coop. Also it is way easier and cheaper to chop a couple holes in the side of the coop than to buy a fan, wire it in, etc etc

No offense meant, but I'd really really recommend not using any sort of fan (except maybe for just a day or two at a time if you get a super hot spell in summer),

This is what I did, front and back, it works very well:>) This spring I have to put some trim peices on there and i am going to add hinged covers so I can close it on especially cold days, (like below -30C) but all in all it is great.
