My husband got our new chicken house done. It is so nice and cool in there. It is under trees and open in the front and back to air. He used welded wire plus chicken wire on top of that. The roof is extended in front and back to stop the rain from coming in too much. He used bamboo from our property for the roosts. I am so glad since we have 65 birds...a combination of chickens, turkeys and guineas. Love my birds..

That looks like a poultry manor, not a coop. The design is perfect! I’d recommend elevating their feed and water especially since you have more birds, they will dirty it easily. You’re a new member it seems.. You haven’t introduced yourself, go to our new member forums and say hello! Everyone here is always friendly, and it would be a good way for people to be familiar with you. But this is entirely up to you. Anyways, I hope to hear from you again soon!

Thank you. I only took a picture of a few of the nesting boxes on one side. We have more on the other side, plus wooden nest boxes outside the chicken house...although the cheek to have a favorite blue box that they wait in line for !

Nice coop!!
How do they like the bamboo roosts?
I would that they might be a bit slippery?

Welcome out of the 'closet' :D
Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, (laptop version shown), then it's always there!

We are in Louisiana. My husband scored them in parallel to the “grain” a small amount so they would not be so slippery. They seem to like them just fine.

That will not change the little darlings all want to lay in a heap

Oh! I'm south of you near Thibodaux! Welcome to BYC!!

And since you'll know my humidity woes better than most... let me know how that metal works for you! I'm a little worried to do mostly metal since it could cause condensation. But your extremely awesome ventilation should counteract that!
