I just heard the other day that Elkhart Co. IN where I live just passed a new ordnance limiting people with less than 3 acres of land to 15 chickens. I already have 7 hens and a rooster in the back yard and I just got my incubator built. This new ordnance is going to force me to make sexing chicks and culling a huge priority.

Remember roosters don't count in chicken math.

Believe it or not, but in the city where I work you can have chickens, including roosters and in the 15 years that I've worked there I have never heard of an ordinance complaint for the chickens, only for barking dogs.

My old neighbors didn't know I had chickens for almost the first year that I had them. It wasn't until I started passing out the extra eggs that they knew. My birds never made enough noise to disturb anyone. Any roos I had were sorted out before they got very loud. Come to think of it I think all the crows and other wild birds in the neighborhood made more noise than the chickens.
