Just got a pair of Mearns! My birthday was Monday and I couldn't ask for a better gift to myself haha. They settled in very quickly and are incredibly calm. They slowly walk over to their hide box when I hover over the pen, but don't go nuts like some other species of wild quail. I'm absolutely in love with them! These are 2015 birds, so I should get eggs from them this year. I'll be adding two pairs of 2016 birds in the fall.
Im still trying to give them some space, so These are terrible pictures of the male but you can still see how beautiful he is. The hen is hiding in the black 1/2 of a plastic plant pot. I'll post better pictures later once they've had more time to acclimate.
