Crowing
So, in case anyone cares to look us up..we now have a little FB page...C&DFarming. It’s the picture of a silver goat. The FB page went nuts and is making me a bit too busy for my liking. Hoping it settles down. Not sure if you all know but we breed Juliana mini pigs...had our first litter about a week ago!! They are sold. I didn’t advertise, other than the pictures and videos on FB. I also have 3 people on my waiting list for the next batch!! Crazy! I knew they were a hot seller in this area a year ago..which is why we decided to buy some bred pigs from a farm. Then we added 5 more to our breeding stock. It’s going very well!! Other new additions...we’ll, unfortunately, I had to sell a Pygmy goat that I’ve had for a long time. She is very skittish, and we never were able to make a bond. Plus, then in December we bought more ND, and she was causing terrible issues With the new goats. We tried to separate...didn’t help. So, we ended sellin* her on Wednesday...went to buy an alpine/Nubian mix, Brooke on thurs....then on Friday we bought a French Alpine FF and her buckling. To be quite honest, my head is spinning. The French Alpine seems like she’ll will want to dominate my herd, I dont want that because I have a lovely goat, Busty...she’s in charge...and she’s my dear dear goat. So, if the mix doesn’t work, I’ll sell the French Alpine. All the new goats are beautiful...Brook definitely has a great temperament and I think will follow Busty’s lead. I sold the trouble maker to get harmony...so I won’t tolerate any issues. It’s just not worth it. I really didn’t want 10 goats, but that’s where I’m at. If I can get them..to be a good bunch..it’ll be great. I can manage them. I have a wether for the buckling. We plan to breed Brooke right away so she is in milk, while my great dairy goat, Busty dries up to be rebrEd. We love the milk, etc! Plus, I enjoy the milking. Tried 3 machines, even one for $500...but, I much prefer doing it b6 hand....
As for my chickens, we are up to 55 and two Roos. The6 are good boys so far! The hens, we kept adding more as our farm grew. Now I sell eggs to a store, a restaurant and a baker, plus a few very regular customers, then what’s left I sell out of our garage fridge. Believe it or not...I usually am sold out! We had egg eaters so, hubby made rollaway nest boxes. Every once in awhile, one will get stuck, because it’s too big, or there are too many in th3 tray. Those few get eaten..bu5 we don’t lose that many.
ive expanded my rabbit breeding quite a bit! I have about....32 rabbits, four breeds, that I keep in my breeding line. I have New Zealand, California, I cross those two and get spots...people lov3 the spots! I also just added lionheads..she’s even got a pedigre...but I don’t care. Lol. Then we jus5 got some jersey wooly’s...sure are cute little balls of fluff.
only have four ducklings. I don’t want more. i don’t have th3 time anymore, and, hate to admit this, but my large livestock, are just more loving back. Ok..so, I thought I’d give an update, since things are changing sooo much, and sooo fast. Hope everyone else is doin* well during this difficult time! Stay safe!
