Hi guys, I started raising chickens back in November with day old hens from Meyers Hatchery. I got 3 Rhode Island Reds, 3 Silver Laced Wyandottes and 3 Buff Orpingtons. I let my hens out everyday to free- range because they are so happy when they are not locked up in a coop (with a run). I slowly started losing members of the flock. Three weeks ago four hens went missing when I had six left. The next day another went missing. That left me with one hen left named Cashew. Two days ago I got 6 new chickens.
- 2 Buff Orpington hens
- 1 Silver Americana hens
- 1 Blue Wheaten Americana hens
- 1 Wheaten Maran hens
- 1 Black Copper Maran Rooster
I tried to introduce them and left them in the coop all day yesterday but in the late afternoon today I let them all free- range. My old hen and the new ones (and the rooster) won’t walk back to the coop yet. I really need help with advice introducing my 8 month old Rhode Island Red to the 5 year old hens and the 4-5 month old rooster. I’ll post pictures in a minute but please help me!! 😃

You will need to pen them next to each other for a while so they become familiar through a fence. They also should be kept confined to home them to your coop.

Do you have a run? The predators will return and take your new birds too.
