I've had Australorps for years - I love them! They lay tons of eggs, are fairly hardy through the winter (I live in Vermont), and are basically very healthy and hardy birds. The oldest one I ever had was 11, and she still layed eggs every couple of days in the spring and summer. I've even had some that laid more than one egg in a 24 hour period!
