It is my pleasure to introduce 1Dchicks: Louis, Harry, Liam, Niall & Zayn! ;-) (yep, we know the chicks are all girls - but we got outvoted by the 14year old)

We are new to the chicken world and are excited for this adventure:
- Coop & run have been ready for months.
- Tub, for their first month with us inside, was ready last weekend.
- Lots of BYC articles have already been read and will be reread soon I'm sure.

Now we are prepared for the peeping, socializing, feeding, watering, cleaning and more peeping!!! :-D

Hi and welcome to BYC - glad that you have joined us. You seem to be all ready for your chicks which is half the battle.

The Learning Centre is a great resource, even for experienced poultry keepers - loads of info on anything poultry. https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

These links may help you for the moment.

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - just type the name of your state in the search box.

All the best

3 weeks old now and growing like weeds. Really amazing to watch how they change every day. They are fast outgrowing their tub and I hope it warms up outside soon, so that we can relocate them to their coop. They go bananas over mealworms. That is the only time they will come near us. Otherwise they are pretty skittish, even though we have been interacting with them every day to get them used to us. Trying to get the temps in the tub down, but we seem to be stuck at 80, no matter where we place the heatlamp. Should we switch to a regular red bulb?

Does the thumbs up mean: "yes, switch to a regular bulb"?
