Hey Folks!

Excited to he here. My 10 year old son and I decided to take the plunge this weekend. We made 2 trios to the farm store and brought home 10 new family members. All different breeds. Maran, Brahma, sussex, turken (Lord help me that things ungly!) Welsummer, jersey giant, California grey, amberlink and buckeye.

We are looking forward to "pets that poop breakfast" I do daycare so we went specifically for breeds touted to be extremely friendly and even affectionate as well as decent to good layers.

I grew up with chickens so I'm not brand new to them. But still have so many questions on coops (can we have a 2 story? How to I make a large doghouse into a henhouse big enough for our 10 babies? How hard is it to grow/make our own feed? How do we train them to their names? And many more)

We are both very excited to be here sharing our grand adventure with y'al.

I have yet to figure out my settings here to edit location. But we are in North central Washington state.

THANKS FOR having us

G'Day from down under Amber & Aussie :frowWelcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.
