Not for a minute would I consider myself an expert.
But I got some eggs from someone....
Now I got a cockerel (this shows how he is colored)

(This is a better picture of his actual coloring.)

And this is a pullet.

You probably can't see her feathers, but they are blue laced.
I thought that he was a real odd color (since I was trying to get a specific color). But as I got to looking at him, I thought he was interesting colored.
I showed him to someone else, and although not at all a chicken expert, he thought he was one of the nicest colored birds I had. (I also have some Silver Penciled Rocks, Black and Lavender Ameraucanas) and some Orpingtons with a Lemon Marans and two Cuckoo cockerels. So the guy started calling the rooster, "The Eagle." He wanted to purchase him. I wouldn't sell him.
I thought, "Well, this is a rather interesting color." I wonder if it is worthwhile to breed.
So I showed my birds to another person. She has been in 4H all her life (and she's middle aged now), and she didn't much see anything except, "I like that hawk looking bird." (That's The Eagle.)
So what do you think? Should I try replicating this color? Should I try to improve on it? I think what they like is his head coloring along wth the variety of feather colors in the bird.
I am not an expert, but that doesn't mean that the bird is't worth preserving. It could be that someone who is an expert will see the line down the road and want to continue it.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
