I have 2 True Blues about 12 weeks and 2 Cream Legbars 1 week. We just oved the Blues into a bigger pen on Monday. They were fine until today. One started bullying the other. They were left alone for one hour and during that time, one hurt the other. I think her leg is broken. Ihave her sequestered in the coop. They have been together since birth. Why would one do this to the other suddenly??
This is my first attempt at raising chickens. I was so excited until today.

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

I am so sorry your bird is hurt. :hugs Did you introduce them slowly together? Birds do not take kindly to new flock members and new birds need to be introduced over a couple of weeks from behind wire or a cage so they see but can't touch. This makes the intro aggression lessened. So it's possible this was a pecking order thing on a new bird.

First, if you need help with the hurt bird, definitely post in our Emergency forums here... https://www.backyardchickens.com/forums/emergencies-diseases-injuries-and-cures.10/

And I would separate the other one for now too. Keep them separate from the others but in the same area for another week. When you do mix them, put out extra water and feed stations, lots of room and if it gets violent again, separate out the bully.

Good luck with your flock. :hugs

Welcome to BYC!! I agree with TwoCrows- caring for chickens isn’t always like this, new flock members need to be introduced to each other slowly. :)
