Hello there everyone, I am a new chicken caretaker and the chicks are unofficially mine, they belong to my landlady, but she put me in charge of caring for them and they stole my heart away!

So then a question came as to what gender these chickens were. There are 5 in total, 2 are notably older and I want to say one is a boy and the other a girl, but I'm unsure.

The largest one I have is a white chicken with thin black feathers showing most notably in his(?) Neck and wings and has quite a luxurious tail growing and had feathered feet so I can't really see it's legs that well. Quite a runner and is the one that always stands proudly in comparison to his(?) coopmate.

The coopmate is a reddish-Brown chicken who is notably more submissive and shy and often stays sitting while the white one runs around.

I have no idea what breeds they are and I can add pictures as soon as they stay still long enough for me to take a picture.

The other three are all black chickens and I have their species names,

The biggest one I have is what my landlady called a sex link chicken. When it came into my care it was pure black, but it's been about 2 weeks and it dominates in size to the other two who were brought home at the same time, has reddish feathers on the neck and no signs of white or yellow anywhere. This one is also incredibly protective of the others and has only just started letting me hold it without it panicking.

The second one was called a Dominique I believe, also pure black it has started to shed its down a bit and some white/brown feathers are mixing in beautifully for a bit of a mottled texture look. A quick runner and likes to hide under the sex link, especially around sunset.

The last one she said was called an "American Giant" but I looked everywhere on the internet and haven't found anything on it. This one is the only one to still have all of the fluffy down save for the wings which have started to have a singular white feather at the end of the wing. On its body are two small white spots on its cheeks, or earlobes? I think.. and a white under neck. This one is incredibly curious and likes to be my little shoulder chicken. I actually have a picture of this one which I'll post here.

If anyone knows how I can tell the genders since they're all older than 3 days and I don't have the money to hire a professional to try that vent check for sexing I'd really like any help I can get.

Generally 6 weeks is about the earliest they can be sexed and ID breed, sometimes even longer. Maybe your landlady called it a Jersey Giant. Vent sexing isn't very reliable and unnecessary.
