Hi!
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
brand New (although we have thought about it for years)
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
6 babies arriving next week. My youngest son loves to build things, so we bought a tractor supply kit coop. I know it’s crappy, but it’s a start. On our acreage there is an old milking barn I intend to transform for the flock.
(3) What breeds do you have?
barred rock
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I suspect it will be the eggs, but I am open to being surprised!
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Ive been growing lettuces and basil in a hydroponic system, looking forward to expanding into a kitchen garden/potager.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
Married for 17 years, two boys. Husband is allergic to everything—someday hoe to have a dog but not sure how it will manifest. I’ve been homeschooling the kids for almost ten years. We just relocated to East Tennessee (from Connecticut) and I am absolutely thrilled to be here. We are living closer to town while we build our forever homestead on 52 acres in the country. I’m dreaming about an attack donkey
I’m probably older than average at 54.

i can’t recall how I found you, but i Was sure the new arrivals would bring questions so I joined
