We are a mid-late 20s newlywed couple from mid MO. Just started our flock in February with help of a friend. Due to less than ideal circumstances only 7 out of 27 eggs she incubated hatched. Of those 7, 5 were roosters and 2 were hens. One hen unexpectedly died in June before she started laying. We are now getting 1 egg a day from the remaining original hen. Just culled 2 roosters last week and added 3 hens (one of which I'm trying to nurse back to health) 2 days ago. Trying to build up our bad luck flock haha. But for the most part we are enjoying it! I've read lots of posts on here already, it's nice to have a voice in the backyard chicken community. :)

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Sorry to hear you have had rough start to your chicken adventures :hugs I hope your luck changes now and things get better. The learning centre is a fabulous place to start for lots of great articles on helping you to keep your flock, happy safe and healthy. Here is the link if you have not already checked it out ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Good luck in getting your sick hen back to good health. Be sure to ask any questions that you may have, everyone here to help and very friendly.

Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow

Thanks everyone! I did post in the emergency/illness forum but so far haven't had any responses. It says it was posted about 2 hours ago.

Did you check the last date posted? There are some that are later dated sometimes. I will go look for one.

I see that you had one comment now. I also posted there after reading what was going on with her. Good luck, glad she seems to be improving. :)
