I bought 4 ducklings from Tractor Supply. Well, that's what I started with, but I love them so much. I can't explain it.
We chose 4 different looking ducklings. One turned out to be a crested white, and I think it is the most beautiful bird I've ever seen.
So i started reading. If I'm going to do a thing, anything, I want to do it right. And if a creature is alive only because of my choices, I want to give it the best life I'm capable of offering it.
And I finally came across the information about the genetic deformity that causes the Crest (😭😭😭😭😭😭😭).
So breeding 2 crested is mostly considered cruel. I won't do that to my beautiful birds. And crossing a crested with a non is just less.
How do I work through this, o my community of feather gurus? I have polish chickens, but the ducks. These amazing, hilarious, beautiful ducks. Is there any way to hope/want more without being a horrible person at the same time?

Go get more if you want more. As for your crested since you don't know sex yet I assume you just got the babies? They can still mate just don't hatch. And if you have a female crested your going to have to protect her from any drakes you may have because when drakes mount females for mating they grab feathers on top of their head. and hold on. You don't want that to happen to your crested females.
:welcome Please post pictures of your littles we love pictures.
