We just purchased close to 3 acres and are researching raising some ducks on a small scale for meat and eggs. I was thinking about having about 35 ducks and then cull about 32 once mature and use the others for eggs after. And then continue to repeat that. I was looking at duckaponics and also growing your own feed. I was curious to know if you can or freeze fodder to use for later ?

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! I'm afraid I'm not a duck person but please do drop by the duck section of the forum. I'm sure all the duck experts there will be able to help you with all your duck questions. Here is the link ~ https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/42/ducks

Wishing you the very best of luck with your duck ventures in the future.

I've never raised ducks (I'm a chicken person) but Yorkshire coop has given you the duck forum link to check out so I'll just say Hello!

It's nice to have you here!

Thanks you all. Everyone at home is excited about the Spring and bringing in this new hobby. Im just very nervous bc my sister has twice gotten over her head with homesteading. Last year when she moved out to the country a neighbor gave her two goats and she was excited but didnt have the home for them bc they were just moving and they did so much damage that within a few months they were off to freezer camp. Smh. and then she decided to do chickens and ended up quickly having 100 chickens on her hands !!! Im just trying to avoid as many pitfalls as possible as far as know the amount that is good for just under 3 acres, safe housing , and the ability to offer and grow healthy food for them. So while Im 7 months preggers and planning away for baby Im making thought out plans for these future ducks
