I had two chicken 4 years old
I then added 4 more there point off lay ,not babies so as big as my old 2
there was not much pecking order going on and only lasted a few days
then they settled in all together.
I then added 5 more to my 6 separate at first through fence then at night I added them with them in there coop that was over a week ago
the original 6 are not letting them near food or treats ,
my pen is big with loads off places to hide ect and the new ones stay in there own group they don’t mix with the old group they don’t run over for the treats like the old ones they seem scared and if one wanders out from there group they panic to get back to there friends how long will it take for them to separate and mix together ? Instead off two groups liveing in same pen at separate ends Thanks

Welcome to BackYard Chickens, And a Big Hello from Eastern Nebraska! Chickens have that pecking order, And they will always have It. Give them more time, As long as there not Fighting and constantly picking on the New additions they should be Ok ? If It seems out of control you might need to separate the two groups. The Best of Luck with your Flock!

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

This unfortunately is normal behavior in the pecking order. I will add more feeders and waterers, the original flock can't guard them all. It takes several months to finally see peace in the flock, eventually they will all work in. If you start to see any big bullying going on, don't be afraid to cage a bully for a few days, let the newbies adapt to the new surroundings without being harassed.

Best wishes with your flock!

Welcome to BYC.
They will eventually work it out, in the meantime, make sure you check on each one daily. Look for weight loss and pale combs so that you'll know if someone is being kept from food and water.
You'll need to have at least 3 waterers and several feeders spaced fairly far apart.
Hiding places and multiple perches will help also.
Good luck!

Hello and welcome. I have a mix of m many old and many news and chickens and ducks together, but I have had to do is create four different feed stations in different places around the yard. Welcome to BYC.

:welcome

Hello, as others have said, add more feeders & waterers and give it time. I wonder what the dimensions are of your coop...you now have a flock of 11 and need a big coop for them all to feel comfortable.
