I am brand new to chickens and am getting ready to build a coop! I am a high school math teacher and mom of three. We are all excited to learn something new! We live in the Santa Cruz mountains.

I am not sure.... I want to have only females. I need to research What makes sense for the area we live in. We are in northern CA in the mountains... I am reading like crazy;0

Congratulations on a brilliant choice of hobbies! Chickens are amazingly addictive! Build or buy big, you'll end up needing the space once you realize you don't have enough chickens!
