I just received 25 new chicks. 1 arrived dead and 1 arrived with a heavy left turn to its neck. It had been distress cheepingI brought it upstairs and made sure it drank. I felt the neck and it does feel a little curved up by the head. Chick drank well and started pecking around for food. I returned it to the flock, it seems ok. Not distress cheeping anymore, standing upright. It can straighten the neck, but no right turning and if stressed it goes back to a hard left turn.

Is this something you have to cull for, or wait to see how it develops as long as eating and drinking?

Thanks

That's up to you, if you want to see how it grows, leave it alone, but if you're afraid it won't do well, cull it.

I was worried that it might be sick, but it does seem that some chicks hatch 'crooked'. Since it drank enthusiastically and pecked around for food, it gets to live. Any signs of weakness and I guess it goes quickly.
