My son and I have been reading the byc boards for over a year and have learned so much.
We started out with chickens that his school class hatched. They were so much fun! We had 10 but only one of that flock is left.
Her name is Miss Henson, which is where I got my screen name. I also choose it because our chickens are sort of a mother & son effort, so I guess I'm the Hen and he's the son.
We ordered 15 chicks from Cackle Hatchery in August 08 and still have 12 (we lost a couple to a hawk before they were full grown), that have began to lay in January. We also have 38 eggs, from these chickens, in the incubator as we speak, scheduled to hatch March 20! We are very excited to candle this Friday night to see what we have!
We have learned so much from BYC but sometimes have questions that we don't have answers to so I decided to come out from behind the feathers and say hello.
