I bought an automatoc incubator from melbourne aus, now im confused as to how to control humidity.
As far as the instructions go they were not quite detailed at all!
I watched a youtibe video which does state to put water at the bottom of incubator. (No eggs have been in it yet) i am just testing it and making sure it is at correct setting before i out my buttons in there.
To lower humidity doni put less water? Yesterday tge fan stopped on its own and i wondered did it raise to 90% because the fan was not running? I understand that the first 16 days for incubation need to be roughly betwen 50 % and 60%. I just want nothing but the best for the chicks
I dobplan on putting some food dye into the water as suggested by someone on another post to keep an eye on water levels.
Any hints or tips would be amazing!

I run mine 45% first 18 days. 70 last 3 days.. less water yes.. first 18 days I just use a pill bottle . filled with water . No water in bottom. . Fan should run all the time.. if it's a metal fan may need lube. . 3 in 1 oil

Rod-T has the same humidity levels and time frame that we follow.

I run 30% the first 17 days. The best way to get an idea of what works for you is monitoring the air cells. 50-60% in most table top bators will result in not enough moisture loss which means air cells too small and chicks drowning come time to hatch. I'm going to give you a link for humidity, this is the process I use. I usually can run at or close to 30% w/o adding water.

You are doing button quail? They are...18 or 19 days incubation? Then day 15/16 you can go into lockdown, and you will probably find for the smaller quail eggs, 45% would probably be better for the first 15/16 days and then raise it for lockdown. Good luck!!
