They tend to pack at eggs that are broken and thin shelled. And once they start it can become a very bad habit. Make sure she gets enough oyster shell, and sometimes you need to give them human caltrate for extra calcium for a while. I crush 1/2 a pill and put it in baby food and syringe it in the mouth under the tongue daily until I see improvement in the shell quality. Is this a new layer or an older bird? Make sure to clean up all broken or thin shelled eggs asap, and keep fake eggs in the boxes too so they think most eggs are impenatrable. If you start getting a bunch of egg eaters, curtains covering the front of the boxes with a slit down the middle, will keep the boxes dark and deter egg eating until they stop the habit. Good luck!Got a question. Just about everyday I have a broken egg in my nest, just one. The other 3 or 4 are fine. My chickens are about 6 months old. Do you think the shell is just not hard, or is she breaking it to eat it,,
