HI, all.
We want to try to hatch some of our chicken eggs. My question is this..our hens are 8 months old now...are they old enough to have viable eggs?
thank you,
Brenda

When the pullets start laying eggs, they lay small eggs. These small eggs quickly become normal size eggs. After they have been laying eggs for a couple of weeks, the birds should of worked out all the kinks - Small size, soft eggs, etc. This when it is 100% ok to start hatching the eggs.

Keep in mind that many folks have no problems hatching chicks from those first eggs, the small pullet eggs.

Good Luck Hatching!
