It has been roughly 10 hours since the external pip first appeared. Maybe it is not open enough to let enough air in? Fretting super a lot!

It might be tired b/c that is what my duckling did it did nothing at night and in the morning it started back up and finished out. When they are starting to external pip they are still developing. They absorb the blood in the blood veins before they finish up and break out. That is why people say not to help them unless necessary.

Aaaah! Come on little guy, hatch already! I`d probably leave the air flow alone (it looked pretty good to me). Just make sure the humidity is right and keep waiting...

At the 'top of the aircell' is where the shadow of the bill seems to be. would it be as good or safer to try easing one of the edges up on the pip dimple? I've read through the assisted guide and the goose incubation guide fairly thoroughly already just in case...

You can remove the pieces of the shell and it should be fine. I do that with some of my chicks b/c I have a still air incubator.

I think a velociraptor would go down quite well in this house. I've already had requests to make sure it is a dragon that hatches out too! haha

thank you so much to everyone for your support, this is so exciting! I definitely hope we won't be doing any crying unless it is from happiness!

no change yet, but I took a closer shot of the cracked pip

this looks like a fairly nice pip, ducks take much longer to rest and absorb than chicks do. if you would feel more comfortable you can sterilize a needle and just go in the center of that crack and make sure the outer membrane has a hole in it, even a tiny tear is fine, it will get air. JUST DONT GO DIGGING deep or make the hole big, he can dry out.... enough to make sure you have breathing hole, tap and candle fast to make sure he is still perky and quickly put back, if you have a mister to mist the inside of the bator (not the egg) go ahead for instant humidity, other than that, he is still going to be resting for quite some time, is my guess! TAKE TIME TO READ THE ARTICLE NOW and get supplies on hand if you need them!

OZ can take over from here if you have questions, Its been a long few days for me and I cant keep my eyes open! I will check in first am from here in PA! I wish little ducky the best!

YOUR DOING AWESOME SITTING ON THOSE HANDS!!

I don't know enough about hatching other than to say, I lost 5 fully formed chicks on hatch day .....all were moving about that morning, but they could not get out for whatever reason (the shell and membrane were too tough because of some maladjusted humidity or temperature). They all died because I didn't do anything. I wish some of those who incubate eggs regularly would give some advice! I really want this chick to hatch as I know everyone else does! Good Luck!
