Last Thursday I went to TSC to get some food for my now year-old girls and my wife went with me. She likes to look at all the decorative stuff for the garden there. Anyway, we went to look at the chicks and they had Amerucanas. I told my wife they lay blue eggs...next thing I know, we're going home with a bag of layer pellets, a bag of starter food, and four new babies. I had to come home and build a brooder box for them quickly.
That thermometer is in the far end of the box, away from the light. It's 95 where the light is.
Oh, and yesterday, my daughter picked up 3 Silkie chicks for me at the TSC near her, ours doesn't have them. So, my flock has gone from 11 hens and Henry the rooster to 19 birds.
