New babies

They changed boxes this year and I think the boxes are too small. I lost one because her head was bashed in. They cram in too many..
I agree. That box seemed way too small for 15 chicks. They appeared to have been trampled. The box was fully intact too, it hadn't been dented or anything. One of the chicks was inside the little second compartment inside the box where the grogel and stuff was. I was surprised at how small the box was when I saw it.

I'll have to get pictures of the ones that have survived so far for the obligatory "what breed is this" thread. haha! I got the assorted feather footed bantam mix from them. I'm pretty sure I have at least one black cochin and maybe a couple of buff brahma. The ones the were DOA were so mangled I couldn't even tell what they might have been. Poor babies. :( The little black cochin seems to be struggling the most. I'm not sure it'll make it. Out of the 5 that survived they'll probably all end up being roosters. haha!

Here is quick picture of all of them. I'll get better pictures when I have more time. I also have another waterer for when they get a little bigger.

Well we ended up with 3 out of 15. We had two more die last night. I think of the 3 we ended up with all buff brahmas. One of the ones that died last night was also a buff brahma and one was a black cochin.
Meyer is sending replacements but not until August 10th. I hope that shipment ends up better than this one.

They're really cute babies. :love

Just wondering. How do you think that the other two chicks died from? :hugs

That is heartbreaking. I was just on reading some of their most recent reviews as Meyer is where I've order my last two batches (May '19 with 7 chicks and April '20 with 5 chicks), and have had no issues. I read several recent comments though about boxes being smaller and chicks dying. That's truly terrible. I hope the issue is resolved. I originally chose them because they are close to me, have a large variety, and can ship in smaller amounts.

I hope your remaining chicks thrive. Wishing you and yours the best <3
