Entering our third year of chicken-keeping, this year, my daughter added DUCKS! I wasn't sure about ducks, but we do have the space, so we'll give it a try.
We currently have 7 hens. After enduring the molt and an eggless winter, we thought we should add more chicks as the hens enter their 3rd year. We did try to raise some chicks last year but ended up giving them to a friend. We will give a few of this new batch to that friend as well. They love having chickens but not chicks. And we love the chick part, so it works out well!
Introducing: 1 speckled Sussex, 2 silver laced Wyandotte, 2 easter eggers, and one "Delaware" (not sure they got this one right? She's got a very dark stripe down her back, and wings coming in barred and dark). All the chicks were named after "Hunger games" characters by my teen daughters, haha.
Then, we have the ducks-- 2 Rouen pullets, and 2 Swedish Blue pullets. The blue ones are names Bluey and Bingo, and the others are Cheese and "Quackers"
