New Babies!!!!!

This is Peg here. It's been awhile since I've visited BYC! I just ordered 25 more chicks from McMurray!!!! I'm so excited, but they won't come until April 19. I ordered some of the critical listed ones like the Golden Campines and Red caps. Plus alot more egg layers. I even order a couple of brown leghorns. I hope I doon't regret it because I know they tend to be a little more flighty. I got 2 more of the silver spangled hamburgs also. I had one a few years ago but a hawk got her. She was awfully nice and sweet! Now all I have to do is wait and that's the hardest part!!!!!!

I ordered chicks from McMurray last year, got 5 redcaps, I small time and wanted to try them. I only had on hen that survived. My friend and chicken mentor raised them for me, and did everything right. She said she was concerned about the breeding, maybe inbred, a couple of them acted in ways she'd never seen, eg: running backwards and falling over. Anyway, out of the 5 I only have one. She's not as pretty as I thought, from the drawing in McMurray here's a pic of her from the top, she is very flighty. I also got 2 golden campines from Ideal as surprise special pullets, and they are a joy, they talk to me when I'm out in the coop giving treats and love to be held.
