I picked up these 3 at the local feed store. They were just too cute to just walk past. I have no clue what breed they are or at what age to let them go for a swim? They keep trying to swim in their water bowl should I let them, offer them something larger so they will all fit.

This little guy has a small tuft of feathers that stick out on the back of his head ( he/she wouldn't let me get a pic)

Khaki Campbell (Brown one), Rouen (The one with 2 eye stripes), Pekin (Yellow one)
You can let them swim now, but only for a few minutes (In the bathtub), and towel dry them afterwards.
Also, that small tuft of feathers on the Khaki Campbell's head is a CREST!!! It's like a little fro

Looks like a Pekin(yellow), Rouen(black with stripes on eyes) and a Khaki Campbell(brown). The best thing you can do is give them a bath every night. You dont want to give them swimming water in their brooder, they make too much messs and will forever stay wet and will end up sick from the cold. I make my water feeder out of a buttor dish with the lid on and a hole cut out in the middle so they can only get their heads in to drink...same with their feed dish, then they dont walk, poop and knock it over. You might want to get some Niacin from the vitamin department of Walmart or somewhere and put it in their water. 100mg to 1 gal of water. Peas also have alot of Niacin so you might want to stock up on bags of peas. Mash it up and make a peas soup for them then next week when they are a bit bigger put it in their bath with them so they can go diving. Tins of peas are full of salt so dont feed them that kind. They are only young, in their 1st week of life by the looks of it.

I have always waited until they are about a week old before I let them swim and at that point I make it a daily routine to bring them to the bath tub (very shallow) with warm water. They can catch a chill really easily this young, so make sure you dry them back off.
As far as the drinking water, are you just giving it to them in a bowl? They don't NEED water to swim in at all, just something deep enough to dip their whole bill into. I have a special duck waterer that I bought online, but you can easily make one that will help keep the mess down/save some time having to clean the bowl every ten minutes LoL Just take a milk jug and cut a hole in it about 2 inches up...make the hole just large enough to get their head into and this way they won't try to swim in it

Thanks so much everyone for all the information. I was shocked when the babies hopped in the water bowl and tried to swim in it, I have since put in a water like I use for my chicks.
Can't wait to start bath time but I think we will wait and start that next week.
