So, I ordered SEVERAL different types of chicken eggs from a couple of people online. I am so excited because they are hatching!!! Not only did I order the fertilized eggs but I thought that I would try a couple from my own bantams to see if my rooster is "doing his thing"! He was! I have three from him so far and the wonderful thing is trying to figure out which hen laid which chick!!!
So, I have Swedish Flowers, Frizzle Olive Eggers, Lavender Orpingtons, Ameraucanas, Australorps and a couple that I was told were surprise chickens.
12 have hatched and there are 14 more to come. They are hatching in an incubator (that has been finicky about temperatures) and 2 days after hatch put under my broody hens. They have taken to the chicks very well.
Now to figure out if they are roos or pullets!!
