Yesterday we had a new baby born. This was the first calf for this cow. It was too funny. I've been keeping a close eye on her as we had another first timer have a problem with having her calf, and was nervous that the new bull we have might be producing big calves. Anyway, I was out at about 1:00 and there was nothing. At about 4:00 I was in the basement working like crazy trying to finish the boys halloween costumes. I hear someone knocking on the door. Go upstairs and a man is at the door. He says do you know your cow is having a baby and it's hanging out of her. He's almost frantic telling me someone else stopped too, and they didn't know what to do. I thank him and tell him I'll go check it out. When I got out there I thought I hope he seriously didn't think that's the calf, as it was just the water bag hanging. I did appreciate his concern though, and hope the next one chooses to calf somewhere besided right beside the road. It's liable to cause an accident.
I'll have to get a picture today of it all dry and fluffy.
