OUCH ... that is never easy ... how many new babies ? how many old ones? My big girls never like it when I bring someone new home ... I'd be very very affraid they would hurt the new babies ... but than again ... it depends on how many of each you have ... if you only have 2-3 big girls ... and you have 20 little girls ... the odds are even ...? in that case ... 6-8 weeks ... your best bet .... build a new coop? i'm working on my 3rd ... lol

Mrs. Fluffy Puffy :

pic 1 & 2 looks like red Cochin.
pic 3 Partridge cochin?
pic 4 & 5 light brahma chicks
and pic 6 looks like either a barred rock or a barred cochin.

Thank you ... but there is the big question ... I thought I was getting sillkies ... so ... do cochins or Brahma make good broody hens?

i can tell you that they are not silkies they are brahma more then likely . the silkies will have more puff like feathers and will be one solid color most of the time . i use to be a mang. for tsc. now i do know that the tsc in lake wales fl did have some white and blue silkies but they sold all of them . when you look at the chicks they will have really puff like feathers and there eyes will look some what hidden . they also have blueish looking legs and beak if they are whites or blues . i hope this will help you some .

Can't be a BR, but Cochins have feathered feet. Cochins are good broodies.
