Very very soon it will be too small! Seven birds will want about thirty sq. ft. as near adults in their coop; do you have it ready to go? In a very short time, they will want about two sq. ft. per bird. Can the move to their coop with the heat lamp safely? That's easiest, depending on your set-up.

Would a brooder that's 46 inches long and 22 1/2 inches wide work for them for a little bit?

Once they start getting their feathers I'll take them out and let them run around in the pen all day, and then bring them in at night. That's what I did with my other chickens.

Ok, on Tuesday, I'm going to move them into a different box that is 54 inches long, and 22 1/2 inches wide. Is that sufficient until they get some feathers? After that I'm going to move them out to the pen with the box and lamp.

One more question, for 30 free range chickens will a coop space of 380 square feet work? Everyday after work I let them out around 3:10 pm, and they have an acre to forage around on.
