Hi, we are first time chick hatchers, and we got our first little one about an hour ago.
Here are some questions we have, if you know please tell us, we want to reassure the survival of our new girls:
- How to get our girls vaccinated against salmonella, mercies, etc.
- Our chicks are currently underneath the mother, how are we able to give them food, and water? Or will the mother take care of this?
- How do we know which chicks will hatch, what eggs to get rid of, and when?
- And any other information that may be important
Thank you for all your help!

Congrats on the chicks!

You can feed the chicks medicated chick food. Hatcheries coat baby chicks in some sort of medicated stuff but I don't know if you can get that or not.

If you give mom food and water, she will show the chicks were it is.

Have you candled the eggs? This is the best way to tell if they are viable or not.

Is the mom in a coop with other chickens or is she separated?

Good luck!

Thank you, yes we have candled the eggs, and the moment is in contact with food and water. Thank you! it is very reassuring to hear what others think!
