Hi, I have a new fluf ball this morning, my first hatched. I have put it under a heat lamp, but I am not sure how far away from the box to hang it (the lamp). I don't want her to get too hot or too cold.

thanks everyone

Get a thermometer in there and try to keep the temp at about 95. Day olds don't know enough to get away from the heat if it is too hot.

If the brooder is in your house, you probably don't need the typical 250 watt heat lamp. A 100-150 will often be warm enough depending on your home temp. I agree, use a thermometer to measure the heat under the lamp and make sure they have space to get away from it as well if it does get too hot for them. Good luck with your babies.
