New to the backyard chicken yard scene. Got my permit back if Feb. of this year. Have slowly built a 10 x 6 chicken coop. This was my first attempt. Finally finished enough that for my 62nd birthday yesterday my wife and daughter got me 6 ten day old laying hens. Two rhode island reds, 2 wyndotts, and 2 americanas. Will include some pictures of my coop and new family members in another post. Wish me luck and open to advice or suggestions.

Hi and
welcome-byc.gif
glad to have you in our flock. Might want to make the coop a little bigger, you will need 4 square feet per chicken in the coop and 10 square feet per chicken in your run. I have Silver and Gold Laced Wyandottes, Plymouth Barred Rocks, White RIR, a Rare Exotic Breed and Guinea Keets. Good Luck with your new family members.

Welcome to BYC! Please make yourself at home and we are here to help.

Good luck with your birds and have fun with them!

Remember that chickens need 3-5 square feet per bird in the coop and 8-12 square feet per bird in their run.
