I grew up on a farm, then moved to town in my 20s. Had cattle until I was 28. Missed them my entire life. When I proposed to my wife, she asked if she could have chickens. Sure I told her. I retired at 57 and we bought a small farm. I got my cows, she got her chickens. 40 hens, one rooster, 18 ducks, barn full of cats, some too wild to touch, but fed. No mice! 2 dogs. A newborn calf yesterday!
Extremely free range. They go where they want. Back inside at night. Took a while to varmint proof the coop, but nothing has gotten in for more than a year. We did lose a hen and a duck to a hawk last fall. Enjoying the hard work.
Good to meet you
