New batch just arrived - update at 8 1/2 weeks (photos of processing)

I have been considering the investment into the Whizbang. Did you buy his book? Did you buy any parts from him, the featherplate, etc? I know I can build a whizbang my only hold up is whether or not to buy his featherplate or fabricate one myself.

If you do even reasonably small numbers of birds, a Whizbang will be the best thing you ever build/buy. They are fun to build and the instructions are GREAT. Definitely buy the book. For $20, you get what is without question the best building plan I've ever seen. It's SO detailed, and spells everything out so that even someone who has no idea what they're doing can get it done easily. Some of the parts are easier to buy from him- I got the driveshaft from him, the plucker fingers, and the 15" pulley. Reason being, a welder was going to charge me about $120 to build the driveshaft- it has to be perfect or the thing won't run right. The plucker fingers weren't any more expensive than anywhere else I saw online. Finally, it's surprisingly REALLY hard to find a pulley that big in the style you need. And if you DO find one, they're often over $100. You save a lot of time, money, and hassle buying from him. I built my featherplate out of a piece of 3/4" treated plywood with a 1/4" piece of aluminum screwed to it. Everything you've read about how great Whizbangs work is absolutely true.
