Oregon!
Hey there everyone!

Finally decided to join up with BYC. Long time lurker and decided to make an account after I recently got my first ducks. I raised a goose before and fell in love and have always had an infatuation with chickens. This site has proven immensely helpful for numerous reasons, ranging from helping a friend with her chickens to answering my own inquiries regarding my pets! So thank you for your help and I hope to see y'all around!

Oh, and I'm from Oregon! I have a wonderful husband who was actually the one to surprise me by buying the ducks! :D

Welcome to Backyard chickens. There are threads regarding ducks at "Other Backyard Poultry" forum above. They know much more about ducks than I do.

I saw that! Did some cruising through there earlier and found myself there a couple times when I first got the ducklings and was searching like crazy. I was so scared I was going to do something wrong. This site is definitely handy for all sorts of fowl. It helped when my land lady's rooster got sick and various other things. Would have come in handy when I was a kid with my pet chickens, but too bad the internet was still a fledgling back then!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join our flock. A lot of us were lurkers before joining.) I'm a chicken person, but I have to admit that ducklings are the ultimate in cute. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your ducklings.

Hi, welcome to BYC!

Congrats on the new ducks, hope you're having fun with them. Are you planning on getting some chickens or geese again? BYC definitely covers all the bases when it comes to poultry!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. And if you would like to 'meet' other members in Oregon, you can find them here:

It's nice to have you here!

Thank you so much, everyone! I look forward to talking with the lot of you more in the future!! :D

And I used to be a chicken person, when I was little, I even had a rooster that would defend me from any male human and a few hens who would perch on my shoulder. That was the start of the bird craze.... then my neighbor brought me a gosling he found (he thought it was a mallard duckling at first!) and said he couldn't find any parents at the river. Since it had been so long since he took it, I decided to raise it. And oh my goodness did that goose change my mind about water fowl!! After she flew away I knew I just had to get more.

So here I am.

With two little terrors tearing up my bathroom.
