here is my newest addition - just hatched - more to come....

the first egg hatch fine! that is the chick in the 1st pic. the second chick did not make it out. it died in the egg - about 1/2 of the egg was cracked. so i helped the last two out. i have the one in the previous pic. and two that came from blue eggs.

out of seven eggs
two brown - one hatched, other got a crack in the shuffle about a week and a half early.
one polish egg - guess it was unfertilized (never took).
4 blue eggs - 1 possibly unfertilized - never developed - 1 died in hatching, and 2 i helped out!
all three survivors have feathered feet like daddies. i cant wait to see if they are hens or roos so i can see if they got the blue egg gene.
imagine it - EE / Cochin cross chickens.
what mixed emotions... i am so proud of my new bitties, but sad at the loss of the one.
