this morning I had a chick hatch with the egg yolk sac outside of the body one of the other hens pecked the egg yolk sac and it started to bleed I picked it up and it was busted so now the chick is in the house with me I am feeding it's with an eyedropper was a mixture of water and check feed medicated hopefully to prevent infection my problem is now that the check is still not moving around much it's peeping and kicks his legs and kind of Lifts its head up but it's the leftover yolk sac is fused with the cloth the chick is laying on. Will this fall off on its own or am I going to have to figure out how to remove the chick

from the cloth because it stuck?

u can soak the area with warm water....enough for it to break free and then once its broken free from the towel you should be able to blow dry it back to fuzzy....also you can apply antibiotic ointment ...make sure in the incredients it doesnt say anything with caine....in it....and apply it to the area...since you have started to feed the bird you will have to continue feeding it until it can feed itself...likely the chick wont make it...however i have seen chicks pull thru when they hatch like this...i wish you the best of luck and please do keep me posted...thanks kris

i had one hatch out and it only made it a couple of hours....so if your has lived longer...then your doing something right...keep on with the good work...all you can do is try and experience what to do in the not so fun times so you get more knowledge...keep your head up

Thanks. I will keep you posted on how it goes. I have it separate from the others and keeping it under a warmer. The rest turned out fine this is a first for me. If anyone knows about the sac please let me know. I want to know if this will fall off on its own

Update. As of 1:27 am baby chick has been trying to move and making a lot more noise. I soaked the rag in warm water to help soften up the sac so I could remove her from the bonds of that rag. She had had a bit more to drink/eat by force of course. I am hoping that by morning I will find her at least moving around. I will call her Lucky. Lucky looks so much better apperence wise than she did earlier. I will let everyone know how she is doing. I am positive thinking this chick is a she because I really don't need another rooster and I plan on keeping this sweetie! Thanks again for the feedback!
