Hi, I am new to raising chickens, bought 6 yesterday, spent most the day getting the brooder ready for my new gals, got them home and first thing I learned last night was how to remove the pasting on their vents, had a couple with this pretty bad, they seem to be alot better and happier today, it took some time to remove it with care.
As I read about feeders, water, ect I have a few questions....The nipple system seems like a clean way to go, right now I have them drinking out of a little bowl that I clean several times a day. Are they going to get confused when I switch them over and not know where to find the water and food as I make new waterer and feeders for my chicken coop/tractor ? Or am I over thinking this? Also where should I put the feeder, it seems like alot of the designs I see would allow rain to get into the feed at the entrance where the chickens feed? Does it go inside the coop or do I need to make a rain shield and feed them outside their coop?
They have been so much fun already and they will be a great addition to our organic garden. thx

Yor over thinking chickens are simple: just give them food and water and- presto! happy chickens!

A small hanging feeder will stay cleaner and waste less feed.than one on the floor

Switching waterer types is just a matter of doing it;
The birds will figure it out

thx so much for the replies , think I will take your advice and put the feeder inside.
