Found this right after we got our first 10 chickens & joined over a year ago (although I guess I never confirmed through my email - oops). Had most of my questions answered in the existing threads.
Lost 6 of those chickens to a neighbor's dog in the span of about 90 minutes one afternoon - very sad day. This spring we replaced 2 of those (then lost 1 of the others this summer).
On a happier note, one of our hens started sitting on eggs while we were on an extended vacation & our chicken-sitter didn't want to disturb her. One chick hatched over the weekend & another yesterday morning. My 11 year old daughter is thrilled! I was concerned about the newest one & haven't been around chicks since I was her age, so here I am again.
