(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Not new to chickens really, we raised them when i was a kid (decades ago). Hubby and I got our own in 2020 after moving from NV to AL.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We started with 3 on a 1 acre place and now have 17 on our 29 acre homestead in progress

(3) What breeds do you have?
Langshan, Lavender Orpington, BSO Brahma, EE in one coop and bantam silkie and old english spangled in another

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
The personalities are so amazing. And eggs, of course the eggs

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Gardening, food preservation, thrift shopping

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
After living right on top of neighbors for almost 20 years in Las Vegas, it was time to come home and find room to groove. Hubby still works a day job, I was released due to company hardship during 2020 so called it retirement. We only have chickens thus far as we are still working to clean up the property, put in fencing and get things squared away to add rabbits, pigs, a milk cow or two and LGDs.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D
I followed on facebook for a long time (assuming this is that same group). I'd followed here as well for a while when researching tips on raising my birds. I get a little lost in this format for some reason, but I'll figure it out I'm sure.

Hiya, and welcome to BYC! :frow I agree hands down this is better than Facebook.

This can be daunting at first but soon you'll know your way around just fine! Focus at first on the Forums tab in the banner above. There's where most of everything is. The Article tab is helpful if you want to learn or research anything.
