Out to pasture
March 14 & 15-2013 I have been experiencing strange glitches with BYC. Most of the time the home page doesn't fully open - I will get the logo, home, forum etc. but beneath it is just wide blue nothingness.

If I click on one of the forums- sometimes the posts are blank. If I post a response- hit submit, and it disappears but is NOT added to the thread. Several times when developing a post it disappears before I'm finished. I have not hit submit.

The most irksome is when I scan the new members thread - I click on to one I wish to respond to. Nothing happens, I can come back half hour later and it still isn't displayed. If I try clicking on again - sooner or later I get a trouble shooter notice from microsoft that says " Backyard chickens is not Responding."

I have asked several members across the country if they are experiencing similar problems and they are not. I can visit other websites: ie, the golf channel, Lands End, AMCtheatres, Chicago Tribune, etc. etc.with no problems.

It is already 3-16 and I can see this problem continues. Even trying to get this far - to post my problems has been fraught with delays, nothing showing up, etc. I hope this is the right place to come for help because I am not clear of where to ask for assistance.

If my hair wasn't already very short, I would be tearing it out. BYC is usually my companion thru out the day & night.- I would fix in a heartbeat if someone would tell me how. -

Maybe BYC has healed. Since 2:30 am the site has been back to normal - maybe the traffic was too heavy the past couple of days. I hope I don't jinx it now but, I am thrilled. Guess I will be playing here instead of going to bed.

Is this the way it's suppose to be?

Adobe Flash ads (ubiquitous yap/jingles across web). Turn down speaker volume, purchase GF membership (think you can kill flash with a GF, I've never turned off ads so I wouldn't know) try looking over following for more ideas:

http://how-to.wikia.com/wiki/How_to_disable_sound_on_websites_using_embedded_audio_or_Flash

You can change setttings to the way Flash operates: when you hear `music/yap' Rclick on ad (usually animated ads) and the global/local flash settings should appear. However, audio isn't one of the parameters that can be futzed with.

They make the BYC experience a nightmare!

So, you've turned off ads (through profile) and flash remains?

Intrusive flash audio is EveryWhere (the ones that don't play until one accidentally rolls over/touches them are amusing if one maxs volume on the unsuspecting surfer's machine). That is why, if you Google: `Flash Blocker', you can find tools for a few browsers that can help (some plug-ins/browsers easier to configure than others).

I find that simply turning down/off speakers the most efficient (minor hassle and the ads offset cost of running BYC).
