We've had our 8 hens and 1 rooster for two years.
The hens have never sat on the eggs at night.
They leave the box and roost in the rafters.
At the beginning of June I set up an electric coleman cooler/warmer, the kind that plugs into a cigarette lighter, and converted it into an incubator using a hot water heater thermostat to control the temperature.
To our amazement 6 of 8 hatched.
There is a nice variety of of colors.
