Hi there I'm Melanie from west Virginia! I just purchased my first 6 chicks ever! We have 2 black sex links, three americuana(sp), and 1 Rhode island red. They are the cutest things ever. I have five children so we have names for them all...foxy Cleopatra, star fire, Rebecca, Savannah, Geo. Nice to meet you all!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Raising chickens is a wonderful experience for children. My granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) loves our chickens. Black Sex Links are my favorite hens; hardy and friendly egg laying machines. I've raised them for years(along with dozens of other breeds and hybrids), and they have been my best layers, consistently churning out more than 300 eggs per hen per year. You will get loads of eggs from those 2 girls. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock (and your children). )
