It seems so small to me but he spends 6-10hrs 5-6days of the week out of his cage and he doesn't seem to notice the size change. In fact he was completely unphased about moving to a different colored cage with a different rope perch and everything rearranged. My budgies get all bent out of shape if things change. Hakaze just hopped onto his new rope perch, shoved a few toys around, and then checked the food dishes for the treats I put in there to bribe him in case he was upset about moving. He is a little sulky because he's molting but otherwise he's acting like nothing is different. This cage is small enough I can haul it from room to room or take him on vacation with us. The 30x18" cages are a real pain to haul around. I've taken a lot of paint off the door frames when playing musical cages with the budgies.

We got evicted over the budgies due to my landlord/aunt basically going insane and forgetting every conversation we've had about the animals and making up some that never happened. So we are moving to a condo and I'm thinking of using those wire shelves attached to the wall for setting bird cages on rather than my current stacking system. Basically one room will be devoted to the birds and a couple rabbits and I might use a small table I have to move Hakaze's cage in to the livingroom or out on the deck for awhile on occasion. It also means I won't have to use artificial light for them because unlike the current room there will be big windows. I do wish he wasn't so sensitive about being touched because I have a flight suit for him and then he could go everywhere with me but his personal bubble is still too big to even attempt that.
