After being adopted by a group of neighborhood free-ranging chickens, I learned that true bliss is having a happy flock follow me around the garden, looking for the bugs I stirred up. Sadly, they disappeared one day (never did find out to whom they belonged) and I've been missing them ever since.
Two weeks ago, my own brood of day old peeps was delivered. They currently live in the garage, in a three-room cardboard box condo, while I work daily to complete their scrap-wood and hardware cloth chicken family home.
I've already learned tons from BYC forums, and am looking forward to the chicken adventure with all of you.
