New Canadian chicken guy. Just built a henhouse and picked up four young (4 month old) Barred Rock hens. Hoping to get some eggs soon.

Hens can start to lay at 5 months for thin breeds like leghorn, and 6 months for heavy breeds like orpington.

They may delay if there is cold weather.
